Step by step undertake the following actions.

1.  Go to “Run” search box by Clicking the Windows Key + R key.
2. Type gpedit.msc and press Enter.
3. Group Policy Editor window will open.
4. Go to ‘Computer Configuration’ > ‘Administrative Templates’ > ‘Windows Components’ > ‘Windows Update’.
5. In the right panel search for ‘Configure Automatic Updates’ and if it says that it is ‘Not Configured’ then go to Command prompt.
6. In the Windows Search box type ‘Cmd’ and run ‘Cmd.exe’ as Administrator by right clicking over it and selecting as Administrator.
7. In the Command Prompt window type gpupdate /force to update your group policy.
8. Restart your system and check your windows update. It should work now and update windows normally. If problem is still not resolved, go to next steps.
9.  Download the “Windows Update Troubleshooter Tool” from Microsoft.

10. Run as administrator and select ‘Windows Update’ option.

11. The Windows Update Troubleshooter will attempt to fix the problem.
12. Restart your system and check whether Windows Update is working normal or not.
13. This time Windows update problem is suppose to be resolved. If still the problem persist try proceeding to following steps. These steps will additionally also install the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, while resolving the Update Error Code 0x80070057.

  • Open Settings.
  • Click on Update & security.
  • Click on Windows Update.
  • Click the Learn more link.
  • When default web browser opens, click the Get the Anniversary Update now button.
  • Double-click the Windows10Upgrade28084 file that you just downloaded to trigger the download of the Anniversary Update.
  • Watch for Verifying Download and make sure to turn off your connection to the internet, including Wi-Fi or Ethernet immediately as the download reaches 100%.
  • Once the update begins to install, it’ll get stuck at 2%, after 1 minute re-enable your network adapter.

Now the Windows 10 Anniversary Update should install successfully on your computer and the Update Error Code 0x80070057 must have resolved. If still the update problem persist, I am afraid you have to try updating the system using the Media Creation Tool.
